How to play
The goal is simple: eat → grow → outplay. Avoid crashing into other worms, and force opponents into bad angles. Bigger worms can control space, but fast decisions matter more than size.
Core rules
- You pop if your head touches another worm’s body (or certain hazards/skills).
- Food increases your score/length, making you stronger at space control—but easier to hit.
- Cut-offs win games: force opponents into a turn they can’t make.
Desktop controls
- Steer: move your mouse.
- Boost: hold
Spacewhile playing. - Skill: press
E(some skills are tap, some are hold/aim). - Aim skills: right-click drag, then release.
Mobile controls
- Steer: drag the on-screen joystick.
- Boost: use the Boost button.
- Skill: use the Skill button when ready.
Boosting
Boosting trades length for speed. Use it to reposition, escape, or finish a cut-off. If you boost nonstop, you’ll shrink and become easier to punish—so boost in short bursts.
Skills & characters
Each character has a unique skill. Some are tap, some are aim, and some are passive. For a full list, visit Characters.
- Timing matters: many skills are strongest when you commit to a turn or chase.
- Respect cooldowns: plan escapes before you dive.
- Farm safely: don’t tunnel-vision on food when enemies are nearby.
Mutations
When you evolve, you’ll be offered a choice of mutations. On desktop you can pick quickly with:
1,2,3to select the left/middle/right option.
Mutations are designed to shape your playstyle (mobility, survivability, farming, burst). If you’re unsure, pick something that helps you stay alive—a living worm can always catch up.
Quick tips
- Don’t over-boost: boost costs mass; use it to reposition or finish a cut-off.
- Play angles: winning is often about forcing turns, not speed.
- Use your class: learn your skill timing and fight on your terms.
- Pick a region: lower ping makes tight turns and skill timing easier.
Performance tips (mobile)
- Play in landscape for better controls and UI spacing.
- Close background apps if your device is low on memory.
- Try a different browser (Chrome / Samsung Internet) if WebView performance is unstable.
